The final stop on the Road to Wrestlemania is here with Elimination Chamber 2013. This is a pretty big event as it sees The Rock defending his WWE title against CM Punk who he won it from just a month ago. The Rock is on his hiatus from Hollywood to finish up his storyline with John Cena and that match seems set in stone as the bookmakers have The Rock as an enormous -7500 favorite. While many fans would love to see CM Punk get the win, it just isn’t going to happen. There is too much money involved with The Rock for him not to main event Wrestlemania.
The rest of the card has interesting options as well. Alberto Del Rio is another enormous favorite over the Big Show at -6000, The Shield sees themselves as underdogs against Cena, Ryback and Sheamus; and the Elimination Chamber match sees Jack Swagger as a rather large favorite. There is also a Divas title match and a US title match which may offer the best value of all.
A lot of times the Elimination Chamber show is simply set-up for the big show down the line, but this show does offer a little intrigue and it could be a great one. Let’s take a look at the betting odds.
All odds are taken from http://www.5Dimes.com.
Antonio Cesaro (-120) vs. The Miz (-120): This is the only real match on the show that doesn’t have a clear favorite and I think that is a great opportunity for betting success. The Miz has fallen a long way since Wrestlemania two years ago and Cesaro is on the way up. I see Cesaro retaining the title here. Bet Cesaro.
Kaitlyn (-600) vs. Tamina Snuka (+400): This won’t be very fun to watch and I don’t see a bet worth making on it. Skip it.
Cena/Ryback/Sheamus (-1200) vs The Shield (+600): This doesn’t make any sense to me. The Shield have been unstoppable thus far and having them lose this early in the game to a makeshift team seems insane. I believe in the Shield and I will bet on The Shield.
Chris Jericho (+1000) vs. Mark Henry (+1300) vs. Daniel Bryan (+6000) vs. Kane (+6000) vs. Randy Orton (+1600) vs. Jack Swagger (-750): Jack Swagger is an anti-Mexican bad guy. Alberto Del Rio is a Mexican hero. Them facing at Wrestlemania is the most obvious thing in pro wrestling this year.
Alberto Del Rio (-6000) vs. Big Show (+2000): See above.
The Rock (-7500) vs. CM Punk (+2500): What if CM Punk won to set up a three way match at Wrestlemania? That would be awesome, right? The past vs. the present vs. the future. That match would steal the show and do millions of pay-per-view buys. Of course, it won’t happen. The Rock wins.
The odds for this one didn’t leave us a lot of value to bet on, but we found a couple of gems that could pay off very nicely when they come in. Believe in the Shield.
