NJPW G1 2021: Night 1 & 2 Betting Tips

Much like last year, it looks like we will be able to bet on every single night of the NJPW G1 Climax.

non-US Sportsbook (Americans: Bet at BetOnline) is offering betting odds with futures for the G1, as well as betting odds for Night 1 & 2.

That is a good indication that we will end up having betting tips for the entire tournament.

I won’t write futures betting tips – but instead, I covered them on the podcast and potential underdog bets. You can listen to that if you wish over at BetWrestlingPodcast.com.

Let’s look at Night 1 & 2. Night 1 is Saturday, September 18th, and Night 2 is Sunday, September 19th. If you’re in America, it will be at about 4am EST the day of those.

Quick note there are a few NJPW Betting props available at non-US Sportsbook (Americans: Bet at BetOnline). I am betting 1/2u on NO time limit draws at -106, and NO tie break at +125. Bet these at non-US Sportsbook (Americans: Bet at BetOnline).

NJPW G1 Climax Night 1 Odds:

  • Kota Ibushi (-835) vs Yujiro Takahashi (+425)
  • Great O-Khan (-278) vs Tanga Loa (+190)
  • KENTA (-230) vs Toru Yano (+160)
  • Tetsuya Naito (-295) vs Zack Sabre Jr. (+200)
  • Shingo Takagi (-200) vs Tomohoro Ishii (+140)

So honestly – the majority of those odds seem very fair. We all know that the G1 will bring in some betting upsets but this early it’s very hard to pick them.

Takagi vs Ishii is a G1 rubber match. I do think there is small value in Ishii but not enough to bet it. Takagi is one of the favourites and they usually get off to a good start.

ZSJ has struggled with Naito in recent times and I expect that to continue. Personally, I’d love to see him get a solid push and some of those unique matchups we haven’t seen yet like against White, Suzuki, and Takagi.

I could see Toru Yano getting an upset win on Night 1, and will bet 1/4u on Yano at that price. He’s gonna be someone I will be keeping an eye on the entire tournament.

A big upset would be Loa beating O-Khan but the odds aren’t there. If it was +300 or above I’d probably bet it. +400 for sure.

So only the small bet on Yano and ZSJ to open things. And both of those are more for entertainment purposes.

NJPW G1 Climax Night 1 Odds:

  • EVIL (-400) vs Yoshi-Hashi (+250)
  • Jeff Cobb (-625) vs Chase Owens (+350)
  • SANADA (-500) vs Tama Tonga (+300)
  • Taichi (-295) vs Hirooki Goto (+200)
  • Kazuchika Okada (-162) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi (+115)

Quite a lot of people here just to do the job / make up the numbers. I’m going to do 1/4u on Goto to win at +200 odds simply because of that – I feel like him and Taichi are both in thta role so it’s worth betting the underdog.

Cannot see EVIL losing. Cobb losing here would be the upset of the tournament. Similar for SANADA. Okada vs Tanahashi goddamn I can’t wait for that. I just don’t think it’s worth betting on Tanahashi though.

As a reminder you can only bet the NJPW G1 at non-US Sportsbook (Americans: Bet at BetOnline).
