Check out the Top Lists section to read about top betting upsets each year, top Wrestlemania betting upsets and much more.
This Monday will see 4 days straight of New Japan Pro Wrestling action.
We’ll see the following events take place:
October 5th: Night 9 (Block A)
October 6th: Night 10 (Block B)
October 7th: Night 11 (Block A)
October 8th: Night 12 (Block B)
We’ve then got literally a one day break, and then it’s back at it for two nights as they get closer and closer to the final on October 18th.
Going to be a busy time. I’ll cover Night 9 & 10 here and then as soon as Night 10 is over, do a new post covering Night 11 & Night 12.
It’s been a profitable tournament for us so far and we continued that from the last betting tips post in a big way. We went 2-1 on Night 7 with our two bigger bets winning, and it was the same story on Night 8.
Big bets on SANADA and EVIL there paid out.
Let’s get going on Nights 9 and 10:
The best looking man in the world Kota Ibushi takes on Will Ospreay in what should be a rather good match. I don’t believe Dave Meltzer has went above 5 stars yet but he likely will here. In previous match-ups they are 1-1 although in both matches, both guys had injuries that cost them the loss.
Honestly this could be the first time limit draw of the tournament. They’ve teased it enough. If that means we have 30 minutes of looking at Ibushi then so be it. Based on that, I am going to do 1/4u bet on any match over these two nights to end in a time limit draw at +280 odds.
Ishii got his first win in spectacular fashion and now goes up against Taichi who just lost. I like Ishii to continue the momentum after that fantastic match. No bet.
Okada gotta beat Suzuki I guess. Sigh. Okada has been disappointing so far and Suzuki is amazing. Okada has only lost once to Suzuki with just the one loss in the first time they fought back in 2013. Couple of time limit draws in there too. Hopefully Suzuki kicks the shit out of Okada and at least wakes him up so we can have the old Okada back. No bet.
I liked Cobbs last match a lot. If you’re looking for an upset bet – this may be it. As this whould be a shocker. White beat him at the G1 last year so could see the favour returned. I can’t bring myself to back it but if Cobb wins I won’t be surprised.
Bookies don’t expect Takahashi to get his first win. He’s got to win sometime and the question is if they want Takagi to be in contention. I guess gotta keep Takagi strong for the Junior Title matches. No bet as tempting as it is.
So first of all I hope you got on my bettings of SANADA and EVIL last time because chances are they sweep up until that final match from this point forward. If you’re fine betting EVIL at those odds then go for it but I’m not.
Naito is 6-0 over Yoshi-Hashi. These two have a long history – they both came into NJPW in tryouts 15 years ago. Interesting that Naito said every match he should be in should be main event, and now he isn’t in there. There seems to be something there and I’m gonna go with 1/4u on Yoshi-Hashi for the upset.
Now Yano has lost once after busting everyones brackets I’m sure the losses will pile up. These two are 5-5 against each other. Gotta think Goto takes it but no bet.
In the final match and the main event – they fought once so far with KENTA winning last year in the G1. I think I can just justify 1/4u on Tanahashi as I see this being super close and coudl go either way and we get better than coinflip odds.
