Wrestlemania season officially kicks off with the Royal Rumble this Sunday and betting odds are now available. Royal Rumble is typically the first pay-per-view in the cycle that truly matters as it sets up the biggest event of the year. For that reason, this is the show with the most intrigue and questions surrounding it. A ripe situation for betting success.
The main event, of course, is the Royal Rumble match where there are only two real candidates to win: Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns. The chosen one (by the fans) vs. the chosen one (by the company), it’s going to be very interesting how it all goes down. There is also a huge World title match that could seemingly go any way. Brock Lesnar returns to defend his title against John Cena and Seth Rollins. Bookmakers currently favor Lesnar, but that is definitely not set in stone.
This is a big event with more eyes on it than recent WWE pay-per-view offerings and we expect that means more betting. These lines could be on the move so let’s check out the odds and get our bets in before the shift.

So, who’s going to win? Let’s check out the odds and find some great value plays.
Brock Lesnar (-280) vs. Seth Rollins (+400) vs. John Cena (+450): Since beating the Undertaker at Wrestlemania last year Brock Lesnar has been an unstoppable monster. John Cena, the face of WWE, was no match for him in two previous matches and then Lesnar took the next four months off. He returns here to defend against John Cena and Seth Rollins. Rollins, with his Money in the Bank briefcase, is a constant threat to win the title, but these odds aren’t for a cash-in but for the match itself. For that reason, I can’t recommend him. Cena seems like he could finally get his revenge on Lesnar for that embarassing SummerSlam loss here, but this just doesn’t seem like the plan. Lesnar has been killing everyone and will continue to do so until someone worthy faces him at Wrestlemania. There is just too much money involved.
The Usos (-475) vs. Damien Mizdow and The Miz:(+325) Based on the odds, it seems like tonight could be the night that Miz and Mizdow finally break up and it’s hard to argue with that based on recent storytelling. Expect the Usos to retain here and Mizdow to finally stand up for himself.
Big E, Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston (-160) vs. Cesaro, Tyson Kidd & Adam Rose (+120): This could be a surprisingly great match as everyone in the match is dying for a chance to prove themselves worthy of a better place on the card. If they are given time this could be a lot of fun. Well, fun Cesaro, Kidd and Rose because they are definitely winning here. The New Day is just… not working and Cesaro and Kidd are. Give me the underdogs of Cesaro, Tyson Kidd & Adam Rose +120 because Vince McMahon has a soft spot for cats.
Actually the real reason is because of where they are. Philly. Rumours of Reigns winning the Rumble, and a potentially volatile crowd. This will be a great move to appease them as the smart crowd is always a fan of Cesaro & Kidd.
The Ascension (-1050) vs. The New Age Outlaws (+550): This seems like an obvious “young team beats an old team” match to build up The Ascension on paper, but if you’ve watched TV it seems much different. The whole story seems to be that the Ascension aren’t as good as the other teams in WWE history and what better way to prove that then to have them lose to the New Age Outlaws here? This could open the show and give the fans a happy end to kick off the show. I’m taking the New Age Outlaws +550 in an “upset”.
Paige & Natalya (-260) vs. The Bella Twins (+180): This line really surprises me as I thought for sure that the Bella Twins would be favored. They are doing some of the best work of their career while their opponents have no real history together (outside of being on Total Divas). Also, Natalya is basically the punching bag of the Divas division. Despite the odds, I see the Bella Twins +180 taking this one.
Royal Rumble match: The odds for this match are tough. You can see the value in Randy Orton (+900), Dolph Ziggler (+2000) or Dean Ambrose (+2000) as they are three of the biggest stars around, but at the same time you know why those are the odds as there are only two people who are likely to win this one: Roman Reigns (-165) and Daniel Bryan (+170). The case for Roman Reigns is simple: he feels like the guy. He has that John Cena/The Rock thing going on where you can tell he’s on another level than almost anyone else. He should be the favorite and in most years I would tip him easily, but this isn’t most years. You see last year Daniel Bryan should’ve won the Royal Rumble, but he didn’t. He ended up going to Wrestlemania anyways and winning it all, but he still felt like he should win the Royal Rumble. This year is his chance to right that wrong and go to Wrestlemania again. It’s the right story to tell and Daniel Bryan is the most popular guy in the company so it needs to happen. Daniel Bryan +170 not only needs to happen, but it will happen. It’s the right thing to do.
The most intriguing event in WWE is right around the corner. Bet these picks at Royal Rumble 2015:
